The motto of our blog is “Ballparks, Beer, and a Whole Lot of Baseball.”
Over the winter, we’ve been focused on two of the three. Oh, sure, we’ve been drinking a lot of beer–just listen to the drunken ramblings on our podcasts–and we’ve been closely following the baseball action on and off the field, from the Arizona Fall League through Spring Training and now, finally, the regular season.
But ballparks…well, I’ll put it like this. When one half of the blog is under six feet of snow in Maine, and the other half is under three feet of snow in Ohio, it’s hard to imagine the blissful green pastures of an perfectly-manicured outfield.
That’s why we’re heeding the call to “Go West,” to take our talents over the mountains to warmer climes and new lands.
The Standing Room Only Ballpark Tour, 2018, is headed to Southern California.
I was already planning on living out in Los Angeles over the summer with my college roommate and friend-of-the-blog Brendan Walsh, which made planning the trip a breeze. Brett will be flying out to join me in the first week of June, when you’ll be able to find us at these ballparks:
Saturday, June 2: Rancho Cucamonga Quakes vs. Lancaster Jethawks, at Loan Mart Field.
Sunday, June 3: Lake Elsinore Storm vs. Inland Empire 66ers, at The Diamond.
Monday, June 4: San Diego Padres vs. Atlanta Braves, at Petco Park.
Tuesday, June 5: Lancaster JetHawks vs. Rancho Cucamonga Quakes, at The Hangar.
Wednesday, June 6: Los Angeles Angels vs. Kansas City Royals, at Angel Stadium.
Thursday, June 7: Inland Empire 66ers vs. Lake Elsinore Storm, at San Manuel Stadium.
Friday, June 8: Los Angeles Dodgers vs. Atlanta Braves, at Dodger Stadium.
Brett and I will be releasing previews of these ballparks over the coming weeks to get you prepared to join us (in spirit, at least) on our tour.
Have you been to any of these ballparks? Are you from the Southern California area? Tell us about it! Let us know what we should see, do, visit, and take in while we’re not stuffing our face with ballpark dogs and draft beer! Tweet us @standingroombaseball or reach out in the comments section below!
